Students enrolled in JROTC may earn promotions.  Promotions are a positive reinforcement for skill development and hard work.  

Basic eligibility for promotion includes:

• Meet WCHS’s attendance and behavior standards

• Pass all classes at the time of the board

Cadet Private to Private First Class

• Properly wear the uniform

• Recite the Cadet Creed from memory

Cadet Corporal through Staff Sergeant

• Pass a promotion board

• Any cadet who meets basic eligibility may volunteer for a promotion board through Staff Sergeant.

Note:  The following promotions are available to cadets who are chosen to serve in positions of greater responsibilities.

Cadet Sergeant First Class & Lieutenant

• Serve as a class Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Leader, or Battalion Staff Officer

• Pass the Senior NCO or Officer Promotion Board

Cadet First Sergeant & Captain

• Serve as a Company First Sergeant or Company Commander

• Pass the Senior NCO or Officer Promotion Board

Cadet Command Sergeant Major & Lieutenant Colonel

• Serve as the CSM or Battalion Commander

• Pass the Senior NCO or Officer Promotion Board
